etre + past particple of the verb
many of the verbs that use etre involve motion;
aller -to go
arriver -to arriver
descendre -to ascend
paritr
passer
*this verb takes etre when meaning -to pass by
and avoir when it means -to spend time
rentrer
sortir -to exit
tomber -to fall, run into
the verbs with etre
agree with number and gender
to the subjects
ex:
Charles, tu es alle(rsa) a Montreal?
Charles did you go to Montreal?
To make it negative:
place ne/n and pas around the auxilary verb/etre
ex:
Marie-Therese n'est pas sortie?
Marie-Therese didn't go out?

entrer - to enter
monter -to go up; to get in/on
mourir -to die
nai(upside down v accent)tre - to be born
rester -to stay
retourner -to return
To form a question;
invert subject pronoun and the conjugated form of etre.
*does not apply to other question formations
ex:
Est-elle rese(rsa)e a(lsa) l/hotel Aquabella?
did she stay at the Hotel Aquabella?
Short adverbs:
deja
encore
bien
mal
beaucoup
place them between etre or pas and the past participle.
ex:
Elle est deja rentre(lsa)e de vacances?
She already came back from vacation?
